Marie Claire: Fashion or Folly?

Ok...so here's something super-positive.....why I hate Marie Claire magazine.

NOT ENOUGH FASHION. I feel like there is so little fashion, and to much editorial stories about life. Blah!! Who wants to read about life in a fashion magazine? Sitting right next to my keyboard is the Marie Claire October 2009 issue, featuring Drew Barrymore and Ellen Page adorned in sunshine-yellow garments. I do have to say, the photograph is very nice and I love the fact that they used a grey backdrop instead of a white. As you flip though the first 15 pages you'll find the usual advertisements for hairspray, brands, stores and makeup. As you go further in, you'll find stuff you would expect in a fashion magazine. Fashion. But it's not until shortly after, you'll find disturbing images that should not even be presented in the most worldly of fashion magazines. Editorial columns on places in Africa where women are forced to be fat, botched cosmetic surgery jobs, disturbing images of women's full deformed breasts and much more. I will never buy another Marie Claire magazine again. I don't care if Audrey Hepburn is on the cover. A big disappointment, but trust me. Its such a waste of $3.50.

Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express Mascara Review

What a mouthful!! Just for someone to say, "Yeah, I use the Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express Mascara."

My mom picked up the copycat yellow tube a while back, and is not impressed. I jumped at the chance to use this stuff, remembering that I've seen it in on TV.

"It's absolutely horrid. It may give you length, but defiantly not volume. It made my lashes look very stringy."

First off: it seems to me like it's an imitation of the Covergirl Last Blast Mascara. Not cool.

The packaging is similar to the orange tube. Its a wide, bright yellow tube is accented with purple, the cap quite large as well.

When you unscrew the cap, a large, messy wand appears, drowned in the mascara. "Plus, it smells nasty."

BEFORE USING

AFTER USING

As you can see, my lashes may have length, but there is clearly no volume. Length may be good, but volume is great. And for me personally, I prefer bolder lashes instead of the natural-looking ones.
The mascara flakes off really easily and smudges throughout the day. I can honestly say this is the worst mascara I have ever used besides the organic stuff (Who really needs organic mascara, anyway??)

I am not really a big fan of Maybelline's mascaras, but I do love there foundations! :)

maybelline superstay silky foundation: does it really stay put?

After buying the Covergirl Trublend and being thoroughly disappointed with the lack of coverage, greasy residue on your face and strange oily shine, I started watching reviews on the product.
Every person I watched had negative feelings towards it. Good thing it was only about $5.

The only good thing about the Covergirl Trublend Liquid Foundation was the color options. But whats the point of a perfect match with next-to-nothing coverage?

A few days later I was in the local drugstore and I came acrost a small display advertising a Maybelline foundation. I forgot what the foundation was called but It was similar to the product I have now.

A week later and tones of reaserch later, I bought the Maybeline Superstay Silky Foundation in the lightest shade.
I was skeptical, how could this stuff really stay put the entire day without transferring? Beats me.
This stuff stays. I mean- it holds tight through out the entire ENTIRE day

For example; a few days ago my family and I went hiking up a glacier in Alaska. The wind was so ferice, plastering the trees to the ground and rain pelting on us sideways. Whenever I rubbed my soaking sleeve on my face nothing came off. Expect I do remember a smudge from my chin wiping off but besides that it was all good.
Now that is what I call, super stay.
